Job Description The Communications Specialist II coordinates telecommunications services for an assigned geographic area of the state or performs advanced operator functions supporting the state's central telephone switchboard operation. Supervises and assists attendants in the proper handling of telephone calls. Maintains directory assistance listings. Answers service-related calls for the operations center. Resolves system problems by phone or places service orders for subsequent repairs. Coordinates telecommunications services within the assigned area. Serves as liaison with vendor and agency coordinators to ensure efficient service. Reviews and verifies monthly charges; determines departmental costs.

Qualifications Education: High School Degree or Equivalent
Work Experience: 1 year
Physical Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking; climb stairs; work indoors; work from elevated areas; work in confined/cramped spaces; perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders; reach in all directions; possess good finger dexterity; ability to lift and carry 15 lbs unassisted; ability to lift/lower objects up to 36 inches; vision requirements; hearing acuity; and other listed physical capabilities as indicated. Selected positions may require latex safety environments and respirator qualification.
