Saab, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer who is eager to further develop expertise in manufacturing technology. The Manufacturing Engineering function is responsible for all technical production work related to assembly and installation - from calculations, production preparation, and process documentation to verification. The function is also accountable for manufacturing engineering development, manufacturing techniques, and the qualification of new products in accordance with both Saab and customer requirements. This position serves as an integral link between the design and production teams.

Responsibilities include:
    \n
  • Execute process planning for current and new products.
  • \n
  • Improve production flows and layouts using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency.
  • \n
  • Develop processes, methods, tooling, fixturing, and production controls for new and existing products and programs, including the use of CAD (SolidWorks).
  • \n
  • Review design and specification changes, ensuring proper integration into manufacturing processes.
  • \n
  • Respond promptly to technical issues on the production floor by utilizing work instructions, design models, and specifications.
  • \n
  • Support Failure Analysis, MRB repairs, and special processes as needed.
  • \n

Compensation Range: $99,000 - $123,800

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications:
    \n
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • \n
  • Ability to lead and manage change within a cross-functional environment.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • Experience developing and implementing manufacturing processes, methods, and tooling for electro-mechanical assemblies or subassemblies.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for tooling and fixture design.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • \n
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively to technical challenges on the production floor.
  • \n
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • \n
  • Ability to work extended or flexible hours as needed to support production activities.
  • \n

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational and collaboration skills with the ability to work across design, production, and quality functions.
  • \n
  • Experience or formal training in new product development, prototype development, or early manufacturing processes.
  • \n
  • Experience or formal training in Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma tools and processes.
  • \n
  • Experience working in an aerospace or defense manufacturing environment.
  • \n
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or equivalent quality management systems.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle or SAP.
  • \n
  • Experience designing or qualifying new production tooling, fixtures, and assembly processes.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of special processes such as soldering, coating, bonding, or precision mechanical assembly.
  • \n
