Position Overview
As a Psychiatric Nurse (PMHNP) at Second Wind Mental Health, you will be a key member of the interdisciplinary team, supporting psychiatric care for outpatient clients. You will provide direct nursing services while collaborating with psychiatric nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff, to help ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered mental health treatment.
You will:
Assess, plan for, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions for individuals with psychiatric diagnoses
Administer medications (psychotropic and adjunctive) as prescribed, monitor effects and side effects
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient assessments and evidence-based practices
Conduct psychiatric nursing assessments (mental status exams, risk assessments)
Provide psychoeducation, medication counseling, and crisis intervention as needed
Monitor adherence, follow up on labs, collaborate on treatment adjustments
Document in the electronic health record, maintain compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
Provide supportive interventions, de-escalation, and therapeutic rapport building
Qualifications
Must haves:
Valid RN License
Valid certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing experience (preferred 2+ years)
Experience administering psychotropic medications and managing side effects
Strong assessment skills (mental status, risk/safety, physical)
Ability to intervene in crisis or de-escalation situations
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
Knowledge of mental health disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based psychiatric nursing practices
Ability to maintain confidentiality, comply with HIPAA, and uphold ethical standards
