SALEM HILLS GOLF CLUB:

Salem Hills Golf Club located in Northville, Michigan is an 18-Hole Championship course designed by noted Michigan Architect Bruce Matthews, opened in 1963. To many golfers, Salem Hills is a beloved course that has been played for decades. Recent club improvements in 2021 and 2022 have further enhanced the serene golfing experience, with more improvements to be continued in 2023.

DESCRIPTION:

The Mechanic is a full-time year-round position responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of various machines, engines, equipment, golf carts and mechanical systems. This position reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and will work in harmony with the other departments. A mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety procedures. The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Proven experience as a Mechanic.

- Knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components.

- Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)

- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.

- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.

- Very good communication skills.

- Problem-solving ability.

- Very good physical strength and stamina.

- These job duties require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, stand and/or walk for extended periods, as well as lift and/or move heavy objects at times up to 50 lbs.

- High school diploma is required; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a plus

- Valid certification (e.g ASE) is preferred

- Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is a full-time position and candidates are expected to work a minimum of 5 days a week (up to 60 hours) including weekends (adjusted hours may be required during outing and tournament weeks).

SKILLS:

- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements

- Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues

- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability

- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner

- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems

- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components

- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery

- Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users

- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.)

- Keep logs of work and report on issues.
