Northrop Grumman Marine systems is seeking an Additive Technologies Principal Investigator Level 4 to drive the technical business strategy, development, and execution of heavy industrial additive manufacturing activities. A presence in Sunnyvale, California is preferred but is not required for this role.

This position is for a dynamic role within Northrop Grumman's Marine Systems Materials Engineering and Processes team. A Principal Investigator (PI) will work closely with other materials engineers, design engineering, manufacturing engineering, advanced development, and executive leadership, and our customers to develop and execute technical strategy for industrial use of additive manufacturing. This includes identify use cases on current and future programs, securing funding, and assisting with messaging to customers. The PI will also be required to work tactically with program management, contracts, internal supply chain, and our suppliers to drive execution to schedule. The individual in this position will be driving innovation and business-level activities but will need to have a strong understanding of the technologies involved.

Basic Qualifications:

\n
• Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 8 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 6 years of relevant experience.
\n
• Strong technical background in large-scale additive technologies, e.g., WAAM and Powder-directed DED.
\n
• 8+ years of experience in Additive and/or Advanced Manufacturing with emphasis on commercial activities in non-defense applications including oil & gas, large-frame power generation, transportation, aviation, and/or space.
\n
• Clear understanding of materials processing, inspection, and related standards.
\n
• Experience with supplier quality, manufacturing-focused distributed supply chain, and vendor collaboration.
\n
• US Citizenship required.
\n
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
\n
• Ability to travel 50% annually.
\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n
• Experience supporting U.S. Navy programs and/or the U.S. Department of War
\n
• A working knowledge of common Navy fabrications codes and standards
\n
• Experience in the capture and execution of research and development activities.
\n
• 10+ years of supporting external customers
\n
• 10+ years of experience in project management roles.
\n
• Project Management Professional certification
\n
• Current holder of Secret Security Clearance or greater clearance
\n

Primary Level Salary Range: $124,900.00 - $187,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
